Yes. I refused it first time round on the grounds that I've never had chicken pox but accepted it the following year on the grounds that it can be very painful if you do get shingles.

Zac, obviously I didn’t see that thread , or I wouldn’t be starting my own thread would I ?
My husband has had shingles and it was very painful so when I was offered the vaccine, I decided to have it.

Why is your default setting 'aggression'? I just thought you might be interested, that's all. Jeez.
Having suffered from shingles in my 60s I was told I couldn't have the vaccination until I was 70.
I booked it for 2 days after my 70th birthday ang got it no problem.
Yes, was offered as I turned 70 and had it, also pneumonia vaccination.
I forgot the pneumonia vaccine. I had that when I was about 66 and I'm very glad I did.
havent we had this?
the answer was - it works quite well
and the choice is yours

( and yes I am still 'for' vaccines because I worked at Porton Down)

I've never been offered the Shingles vaccine, nor the pneumonia one (I wasn't even aware one existed - might be worth a go, I had pneumonia in 1953 and it wasn't pleasant)
I had it in 1958, Canary and apparently I nearly died.
Same here J
I’d ask about both, canary, but if you’re 80 or above you won’t get the shingles one as apparently it’s not very effective for those of very ancient age ;)

I opted for the synthetic injection today ( given in 2 doses) a few weeks/ months apart . Thanks for replies . Appreciated .
Well done, anne. I hope you don't have any side effects - but they are only short term. Just take it easy for a couple of days.

I surely will . :-)
lol, what is the point of getting older if we don't get wiser? ;)
