There, I said it before anyone else did - it’s a totally random, unimportant post.

Anyway, it was my friends birthday yesterday. I posted her present and card a few days ago and she got them in time. I had a drinks bottle (water bottle) personalised with her name, and also got her a make-up bag & put some mail varnishes in it.
But - her husband not only didn’t get her a present, or a card, he didn’t even say Happy Birthday!! Didn’t even acknowledge it! Nor did her twin sons! Not one person in her house even said Happy Birthday to her. She was so upset that she dug out an old Birthday card and wrote it to herself and put it on the mantelpiece. It wasn’t as if they didn’t even realise as she had cards from other people(including me) which she had opened and put up.
Just felt really bad for her - there was absolutely no need to completely blank her birthday was there!

Maybe a surprise planned for her.
Thoughtless inconsiderate bleep bleeps. One suspects that the ostracism was intended.
That is bad! Don't they get on??? In the middle of divorce??
Has husband always been ignorant? Different story if sons are 6 months old lol
Nasty sob's I would not be cooking any meals, doing any washing for anyone but myself, or bothering to speak to them for a condsiderable time!
When it's the husband's birthday, Smo she needs to buy a beautiful, big card for him saying.....To My Darling Wife....and sign his name.
Same with the children....To A Wonderful Mother.....and their names.

No presents though... :-)
Exactly what Margo said.

Her twin sons are 16. No they aren’t divorcing, but he does seem to be an inconsiderate s……. Not that I’ve ever met him. But even so, completely blanking her birthday is taking the biscuit!
Question Author
Agree with Margo. She ended up ordering a takeaway lastnight just for herself and ate it alone : (
If she didn’t live so far away I’d have gone over to her.
Two guesses.
Jehovah Witnesses or a spiteful Narcissist...
She should book herself a nice holiday and go on her own :-)
There is no fathoming other peoples families.
I once knew a married couple who lived together and raised their children without exchanging a word after 10 years of marriage. She did all the cooking, cleaning and he looked after the finances and his mistress.
The wife believed it was far more important that her children be raised in the family home than to seek a divorce. She waited until the youngest left home - another 20 years. In all that time they didn't so much as look at each other and spoke through the children when necessary. Awful way to live your life
She should go on strike - both in the kitchen and in the bedroom.

Wow Barry!!

Smow, has it happened before or is this the first time?
Barry, the kids would see that kind of relationship as normal and would pick up on the tension regardless of how little was said. They probably did their kids more harm than good.

I actually don’t know Barsel - am going to ask her now…
Totally agree, LadyCG. At least their parents weren't arguing or getting physically violent. It would be interesting to see how their own marriages panned out, can only hope for the best
