I have had an arthritic hip for years which doesn’t bother me too much. However for a week I have had back pain, above the buttock on that side, also ache down the leg and below the knee. Would this all be due to the arthritis. Thanks all.

Not a doctor. Maybe sciatica?
Sounds to me like sciatica. I had it last year and took fully 10 weeks (not the 6 weeks that a lot of websites will tell you) to go.
I have a similar problem, but with severe pain which was diagnosed as hip bursitis. You should try to see your doctor
That's what I've had.
I have to do gentle stretching exercises & painkillers when needed. Some days are worse than others. Don't lie on affected side if you can help it.

2. Sciatica (which, like others here, is my best guess) on the NHS website:

Is sciatica always painful?
I've also had pain/discomfort across the back of my hips, around right buttock and down to back of knee. It has been this way for about 10 days...I thought I'd sat funny or something. It comes and goes.
It's almost certainly sciatica, telling you that a hip replacement is on the horizon.
pasta...yes.....sciatica is always painful and has other characteristic features.
sciatica is very painful in buttock and down leg. i had it bad a few months ago and we had a holiday booked,i thought we would have to cancel but i was told about a tens machine it worked a treat.they don't remove the pain, just make it bearable
