Oh dear, we're in for a night of it.
Get some sleep...
My advice is to ask him why he says that. If he can give u examples you may have to face the fact he's right
What did you say or do, Theland?
Discuss it once you are sober and as Bednobs says, you may have some unpleasant facts to face but it's not irreparable.
I also get accused of being racist and homophobic by my daughter, I don't believe I am but i do get annoyed that you cannot complain about people's behavior without getting labelled racist etc. I don't care where someone comes from or what colour they are it's their behaviour that causes problems .
It's perfectly possible to complain about someone's rudeness or poor service etc without even mentioning their ethnicity or sexuality.

If that's what you are doing and your Daughter is imagining something else then calmly explain.
I call my dad and my husband racist because they are of an era when it seemed to be ok to make jokes about black people. Maybe you are of that era too, Theland?

When you are allegedly old and give an opinion - then you are besmirched with being homophobic and racist. C'est la vie today.
Disagree.
So do I! What a preposterous notion!
Sticks and stones...

Relatives have rows or disagreements sometimes. And sometimes say things they don't really mean.

Stop letting it get to you. Today is a new day.
Everything is homophobic and racist if you aren't "woke"
Perhaps you are as he described? You often claim not to be racist because one of your sons is married to a black woman. That means your son is not a racist, and proves zilch about you.
Lay off the vodka - it effects your spelling.
oh my problem is that I dont listen virtually anything my relatives say

that was after I 'caught' one saying "o I love winding up X about Y - it is such fun!" - after that - there was a lot of o really - yes - yes - quite true

bit like AB really
ken4155 has kicked up a thought. It is obviously racist if a man (or woman) said, 'I could never marry a black/white/Asian/etc woman because they are so .....' (any word will do, fill in the gap yourself).

Is it racist if a man (or woman) said, 'I will only marry a black/white/Asian/etc woman because they are so .......'?
to raise a laugh for Theland

Which one?
The gay one, or the one married to a Somali/Sudanese woman?
Theland - Obviously no-one on here was party to any conversation where you may or may not have said something to lead your son to say this about you.

I can say that on the basis of posts you have put on this site, he may have a point in both cases - but I can only speak for what I have read from you, not what your son has said to you.

If you want honest answers, repeat the exchanges on here, and be willing to ditch your default attitude - that you are right, and everyone else is wrong.

That way you may learn something.
surely alcohol is the devils milk? ...an abomination unto the lord, you sinner!
