How does someone who is a fit 69 year old today become an at risk 70 year old on his/her Birthday tomorow. Surely they would be at risk pre their birthday and not suddenly become at risk tomorrow. It does not apply to me for about 18 months but just asking as it puzzles me a little.

aren't the 'at risk' people with underlying health problems?
The line has to be drawn somewhere I suppose.

No I believe it is all over 70 plus younger folk with health issues.
I guess they have to draw a line somewhere. I know 50 year olds who are a health mess and 90 year olds who are fitter than me.
Most at risk is the line i believe. As Naomi said, there has to be some cut of line.
they arent
the minister covered this rather obvious point
some under seventies are vaulnerable
and some seventy y olds are build like brick outhouses
( like my bruvva in law actually)
you wouldnt say that if there was a date after which they paid you money hur hur hur

both myself and sister in law ( I think someone is following me around) are under 70 and immunosuppressed and of course vulnerable and have intention of screaming our tots off to get into the favoured queue
You don't
These are just guidelines,
I don't think the NHS fixates on age so much these days.
You can be fit and healthy at 80 and probably at far less risk that a heavy smoker at 40

Nobody has mentioned money PP this is a more important issue than that.

Too risky. You might end up getting sectioned. For your own protection of course!
they have to draw the line somewhere.

This is very true Ichkeria but Matt Hancock says when they decide to go down this route it will be all 70 year olds plus those in at risk groups. My wife, who is under 70,helps out in our local Cancer Research shop and their manager had a communication yesterday which instructed her to send home all over 70 plus those in any of the at risk groups(in which my Wife unfortunately falls into).

yes ! no ! I cd say I got corona of the central nervous system and demand a FANY or something
At the moment these are just guidelines. If you feel you want to self-isolate, then you should. I know some people over 70 who have no intention of self - isolating and that is their choice. Personally I will be staying at home as I value my life more than socialising. Fortunately I can cope with the situation but I know there are others who don't have the choice of staying home.
Are the Italian stats anything to do with the high numbers of old people in Italy PP?
Yes its the stats and math modelling...not sure why its puzzling, much of community health care is based on age related modelling....routine cancer screening of various kinds for one thing, flu and pneu vacs, access to certain drugs. and so on.
