So being able to only buy 12 hand guns a year is infringing rights under the 2nd amendment! Right oh! Beggars belief!

They will never change their rules based on an interpretation of a 200+ year old piece of writing, that's the reason I can feel little to no sympathy for victims of their choice.
Can't argue with a nutjob ... especially if they have a gun.
The 18th Amendment which brought prohibition to the union was repealed, why not the second?

Perhaps good Christian folk need a way to bring the vengeance of the lord to their fellow citizens for transgressions real or imagined without too much exertion on the part of the enforcers.
Lot of sinners out there needin' chastised.
What can one say

Trouble is the gun lobby is so powerful in the states , that things won't change anytime soon

Added to the fact that votes are uppermost in the minds of those that could at least try and do something - makes it even less likely to change

Why on earth would someone want to own an assault gun ?
Why on earth would someone want to own an assault gun ?

To make them feel big and powerful and in control, perhaps?
erm gun control in other countries is er - - that country's concern
// .......based on an interpretation of a 200+ year old piece of writing, that's the reason ......... ims of their choice.//

er our Treason act 1346 easily beats that - and when I wasnt doing Land Law the early statute in the book of statutes given to candidates ( open book exam) was 1265 - againsgt forcible entry and eviction
Most things are somebody elses concern, Peter, it doesn't bar comment from others though.
Reminds me of the time the 5 year old US kid pleaded why he couldn't have a real gun like all the other kids. Dad replied - " Not until you're 7 son".
I don’t know why people keep prattling on about guns in the US and I don’t know what laws apply in less prominent but arguably equally dangerous countries. The right to bear arms is in the US constitution. That I do know.
I am pretty sure that everybody knows that the right to bear arms is in the US Constitution. And I'm equally sure that most people here think that it should not be.
Irrelevant. It is.
No wonder that the bear population is reducing.
Yogi isn't pleased.
It is never irrelevant to wonder what can be done to make our laws better and our countries safer. Whether we live in, or merely know people who live in, the US, it's relevant.
Commendable - but entirely futile.
I have spoken numerous times about what I believe to be the 'frontier' psyche of Americans as a nation.

That, coupled with the serious money to be made from gun sales, and the political and fiscal power of the NRA, means that no Democratic President can ever attempt to make serious inroads on the gun laws, it would be political suicide.

President Obama made a few noises in his last term with nothing to lose, but was careful not to go too far, and alienate votes for his potential Democratic successor.

Donald Trump has a win-win all the way - he thinks guns are a great idea, so he can pump up right wing guns nuts and transfer their self-righteous nonsense nonsense thinking into votes for his second term.
I think the notion of limiting purcheses to twelve guns a year is a nonsense.

It will annoy the gun supporters, and it will annoy the anti-gun supporters as well - it's meaningless, and it looks like exactly what it is, a mealy-mouthed attempt to look like pleasing both sides, while actually pleasing neither.

Doing nothing would be more productive than this piffle.
It's only futile if people pretend it is. I wouldn't expect any change soon, but thank goodness people weren't so quick to give up trying to change previous gravely unjust or stupid laws.
How many guns does a person need?
I think it’s less about how many guns can be Bought or owned but more about the government (either local or state or federal) interference in the s2.

They see it as an erosion of their rights and that isn't Going down to well. If you look at the red flag law it can takes your gun away on hearsay.
