A PFC of US Airborne (Steele of 82nd I believe) got hung up on the steeple of the church in the village of St Mere Eglise on 6/6/1944. Believe me. He was still there in 1986. I have the photograph.

I hope he didn't . Doubt there are that many on this site would be happy to jump out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft in order to show their allegiance to their Nation's National Day.Some nationals still have pride in their country.

I suppose he was extremely proud as he was parachuting down but when he got snagged, he would have felt rather stupid, I guess. It's a shame he was left dangling for all to see.
