.........in Manchester. they have posters in lots of places saying
"Manchester - the City of Trees". For someone who was born and raised in Ancoats, it made me laugh my head off. Bless 'em!
Actually, I would argue that the nearest trees to the city centre are now growing on the spot where our house used to stand - 10 Clarion St. How's that for irony?!
Not quite Angel Meadow, Pete. I believe that is at the side of Miller St, opposite the CIS building. But I might be showing my ignorance if Clarion St falls within that area. Do you know if it does, Pete?
Chris, those trees are on a part of Ancoats that we used to call Prussia Park, on what used to be Kemp Street. It's just accross Oldham Road from Clarion St. There were no trees there when we played on it as children. It was a shale covered playground. I've had loads of skinned knees there!
