Reading the earlier post has made me think.
All our history is on line. We do not print out photos anymore.
Our parents left legacies of hundreds of photographs. What are we going to leave? Nothing! Who will know our passwords or where our photos are stored. Our history will die with us.
OH and I have had a wonderful life with escapades on our boats and our motor home. With no photos our friends and family will have no idea what we got up to.
He is now under orders to do some serious printing!

My kids have my passwords. I save photos to FB so anyone with my passwords can access them. I find it's a great way of storing photos.

I don't do Facebook at all, so that is out.
There is nothing nicer though than going through a bundle of photographs.
Much prefer looking at them on the computer. My aunt has uploaded loads of old photos and tagged us all so they save.
I'm an admin on a Dundee local history site and have approx 3,000 photos saved on my laptop. They are in named folders eg streets, so I can find something easily when needed. Wouldn't dream of printing them off but will pass on to new admins when I give up. Do the same with family photos.
my photos are on my computer without a password so if my grandchildren can figure out how to work an ancient piece of technology they can see all they want. I've written a family history record going bac to the 1600s, and I'm thinking of writing my own memoirs. My notes are all on the computer though rather garbled.

It'll be a complete waste of time if I don't have any grandchildren, but that's not up to me.
No sisters or brothers, jno?
a sister I've already given a copy of everything to and a brother who has no interest whatever. Plus some cousins. I talked to them all for any details they could remember or had heard from their own parents abutthe family in general. I've given them all a copy of the genealogy book but I don't expect any of them to take it any further, there's usually only one person per generation who does that, and looks like it's me. (Like most family history people, I only started on it when my parents were both dead and I realised I'd left it too late.)
Ive just lost loads of photos from busted lappy, lost CDs & useless hard drive gizmo. Icloud is hopeless too. I have a family fb that important photos are on & my kids only have access to.
back'em up, tambo, and don't lose them!
That's the good thing with FB, they are there regardless of what device you use.

jno, I bet they will be interested in the future.
Ive tried that but alas. New gadge comes frequently & its too much to shuffle everything. I leave it to gkids to take what they want. Cant be doing with clutter.
