Mines on and off. I could be awake for 3 days solid and then the exhaustion gets me. I'll be fine for a few days and then it starts again.

It's depressing.

So just me then! Even when I do fall asleep it’s never more than an hour. I need help lol,
Smow, have you seriously looked into meditation? Your inability to sleep maybe because of mental agitation subconsciously disturbing your peace of mind. Once learned and practiced, meditation can help your mind and body achieve rest and healing, even though your are actually still awake. The end result if pursued with stubborn intent will help you, and make your life less exhausting.

Morning David. No tbh I haven’t x
Smow, i too suffer from insomnia - not just the occasional sleepless night, but the 'full monty'. If i nod off while watching tv - which i sometimes do in the winter when the heating's on full - my body says, "Right, you've had half an hour's kip, that'll do for today." I've tried most remedies, but reading is my default setting for coping with the problem. I read until i cannot keep my eyes open and sleep is near. The next night, i often have to read the last few pages from the previous night as i cannot remember what i've read and i've even been known to fall asleep, wake a few hours later with the book still in my hand and continue reading for another half hour or so.

Ken I so sympathise x
Being a nocturnal creature (Vampire ;-) I do tend to overthink things when nestling down to sleep, which keeps me awake even though I'm aware they's nothing I can do to help.

Spath... really. you do surprise me. ;-)
I do. But it's transient. Stress is a significant factor. Just recently it's been particularly bad due to a big case and trying to organise a wedding. However i did have some hypnotherapy a few years back and I do sometimes find that if I tap into what I learned there and play various relaxing scenarios in my head it sometimes helps. Big matter just ended - I reckon in about 2 hours I shall be out for the count.
Night prayers put me to sleep; never get thru a rosary. Better than counting sheep.
I do think it may help Smow.

If anything the carbon monoxide from smoking would help relax the body.

Maybe some lavender oil under the pillow?
I wouldn't use Lavender at the moment Smow if I were you as some forms of epilepsy don't react well to Lavender and it can trigger seizures x
Question Author
Doctor says it’s not epilepsy but just out of curiosity would that show up on an MRI??
I dunno but I'd still be careful since you've had seizures, maybe Sqad can answer?
