Seriously, just what is the point of existing?
We might exist for an average of 70-80 yrs and then what? We die, not even remembered in the next 70-80 years. It all seems so pointless. People that we love will die eventually, everything that we value will perish, our experiences in life will fall by the wayside and mean nothing to anyone. All the arguing here on AB means nothing in the great scheme of things, all the opinions expressed will mean nothing in a few years time.
Why even bother trying to survive when the end result is death anyway?

Life's a *** and then you die.

Life is sweet and I am sure it is for those who are terminally ill at the moment.
Its called ( being enabled.) Tilly .
What is, Anne?
Sleep deprivation is a real killer...everything will seem ten times worse... I have started the melatonin 3mg before bed and an essential oil skin diffuser bracelet ...helps a bit....is there a sleep centre clinic in Stoke or nearby you can be referred to ?
What we are all doing to Nailit Tilly.
I did notice Postdogs post but he doesn't seem the type to revel in self pity and I didn't want to sound trite.
Nailit, I used to use alcohol to try and lift my spirits when I was depressed, but it only works for a short while before it becomes a depressant itself. The best thing you can do is to eat some comfort food. Something fatty and full of carbohydrates is best. If you have any chocolate in the house, it would work wonders for you, believe me, I know, having been a sufferer of Bipolar 2 for many many years. A nice runny egg sandwich or a plate of chips would also be very therapeutic.

(Before anybody suggests that this food is unhealthy, I've got an A Level in Food and Nutrition and I know what I'm talking about!)

My family were appallingly ignorant and thoroughly ashamed of my depression. I've always been over-sensitive and defensive because of it. Merciless bullying at school affected me so badly, I still suffer terribly just passing another human being on the street as I think they're going to shout something abusive at me. This has actually happened to me a few times, so I got a dog to force myself to get out more and face the world.

When the 'psychs' say, "Get some exercise", they really do know what they're talking about. Even though I have to push myself, I really do feel better after a long walk.

Has your depression been properly diagnosed, Nailit? I feel I'm lucky to be Bipolar 2. I'd hate to have 'No. 1', as it's far more debilitating. Lithium didn't suit me and it literally took them years to find an antidepressant that didn't give me horrendous side-effects. I'm on Citalopram. I still have 'down' days, but on the whole, I am better than I was.

Don't give up Nailit. I know how you feel about doctors. Many of them don't understand. Many of them don't listen and seem like they're trying to get rid of you the minute you step through their door. If you're not satisfied, insist on seeing another one - you're allowed as many "second opinions" as you want. Insist that they refer you to a specialist, then you can be seen at home by someone who's not just a GP, but somebody who's trained to listen to you properly and work out a plan of action to make your life worth living again.

All I can say is "Good Luck Nailit!" I don't get on here very often any more, but I'd like to see some; any improvement the next time I see you posting. x

I bet Mikey would swap places with you, nailet.
Apologies if I've upset anyone.
Good post genuineclAss
Well said gen ! Xx
ps You're not supposed to take Melatonin if you suffer from depression. It usually even says this on the label!

Instead I suggest you try Montmorency Cherry capsules, which also affect the Melatonin in the brain. They don't work miracles, but I've found that I can get at least an extra hour of sleep than usual when I've taken one.

Trials proved that taking 2 Cherry Capsules had no added benefit - it's just a selling ploy to make the customer buy more!

You can also buy cherry juice, but you have to make sure it's made from the Montmorency cherries. However it can be a bit expensive in the long run. I buy the capsules from Amazon.
Thanks gen xx
"You are not supposed to take Melatonin if you suffer from depression" From my experience, that is not a problem
Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

Just had a quick look and these appear to be the best price for exactly the same thing as all the other sellers who are flogging them for horrendous prices!
Great post GA. I think many of us ( depressed or not) can relate to the " comfort food ". Thanks Islay for explaining my point .
237SJ - I have read about Melatonin and depression in several articles and as I've said, the majority of companies these days, if they're honest, state on the label that Melatonin should not be taken if you suffer from depression. I've never seen a reason why, but I imagine they know what they're talking about.

''Comfort food''
I cant eat. I don't understand the idea of comfort food.
Many of my co workers take Melatonin. They do very well by that.
Nailit, then you desperately need a home visit from a sympathetic GP. Something must be done to stimulate your appetite.

I shouldn't say this on here, but do you take Cannabis? It's a great mood improver and will give you "The Munchies".

Medical Cannabis is given to AIDS patients to stimulate their appetite.

I also used to find it to be the best antidepressant I've ever come across. Best to ingest it rather than smoking it. The effects are more mellow and last much longer.

237SJ All your co-workers suffer from chronic depression then, do they? I'd hate to work where you do, in that case, if it's that depressing!
research over the last 10 years has suggested that it can have serious consequences for people, such as the development of an enduring psychotic illness, particularly in those who are genetically vulnerable.
