I went to my GP for my diabetic results and my HBA1C is greatly improved from 70 down to 57 having been put on jardiance. However he did briefly say that my triglyericdes were high at 5.6 I didnt really take that on board as I was so pleased at the HBA1C. I am on statins and my cholestrol is 4,9 so they are ok with that. But are high triglycerides a problem and if so how do I get them down?

My GP told me that my triglycerides were over 500 and put me on meds for it. I thought that they were meant to be in a range of around 100 for low and over 500 for very high.
Depends which measure you are using.

For adults, triglyceride test results are categorized as follows: Desirable: Less than 150 mg/dL (1.7 mmol/L) Borderline high: 150 to 199 mg/dL (1.7-2.2 mmol/L) High: 200 to 499 mg/dL (2.3-5.6 mmol/L)
Well done on the sugar front, gordie. Yes, it's all important, but I'd say Hba1c is more important than most! 57 is okay, 70 is up there in dodgy territory. Worrying is not a Good Thing...

Don't get "hung up" on fancy medical terms.
Triglycerides are a mixture of chemical substances of which both types of cholersterols ( high and low density HDL &LDL) are the most important factors.
Some say, but not all (including me) that there is a direct link between high triglyceride levels with heart disease and strokes.
You can diet, but the most important facets for you is to stop smoking, reduce your alcohol and control your diabetes and BP, that you are doing well. Statins are again a contentious issue, but you are taking them which will lower your Triglycerides.
Note the post above of bainbrig.
As so often, I notice the fact that the UK seems to use unique units of measurement which are not understood by other nationalities (Mamyalynne's helpfulness not always being available)
. No wonder the UK doesn't get on with other nations/clubs.
KARL.......LOL..so true and when everybody is used to them, they change them again.
I've been using stations for about 4 years with no side effects
Apologies, wrong thread
