For a few hours tomorrow evening, I'm going to be joining a friend at our local church to help make teas and set up beds etc for the homeless, presumably because the weather is so bad, the church has opened it's doors.

Just wondering if anyone has done anything similar, and what to expect? I want to be emotionally prepared!

I've worked with the homeless and essentially you just need to do whatever needs doing from making tea, to making up beds, filling in forms, chatting, serving food, or going out and providing hot drinks etc, whatever really. I enjoy it and at the moment with this weather you'll be badly needed.

Kvalidir... what forms?
Well in our incidence there were just forms that our organisation asked if clients would voluntarily fill out about what they would personally find helpful. It was voluntary and not every time I volunteered. If forms aren't your strong point then they'll find you something else to do, they'll just be really happy you're there.
Just go with the flow Anthro, people are people whether they have a home or not - nice thing to be involved in.
Good for you, all help is appreciated .
