How do/would you react to someone staring at you?
Would you..
1) Ignore it and carry on
2)stare back (maybe threateningly)
3)stare back but question the person as to why they were staring
4)look the other way

Had a couple of experiences in the past few weeks or so of this, could be a number of things obviously (mistaken identity etc) but my initial reaction has always been to ask what the f*** they are looking at, but have learnt to bite my tongue and just ignore it.

still a bit unnerving though and just wondered how others deal with such an experience (if you ever have of course)....

Thanks.

Ignore it - I get stared at all the time, life is to short to make an issue out of it.
I probably wouldn’t even notice, but if I did notice, I would probably think it was someone I knew but hadn’t recognised because I am soooo good at doing that. If I was in a poorly populated area at night I would be more worried and would leave calmly but not hanging around
If I catch their eye I'd probably give a little smile and then look the other way.

The chances of me noticing someone staring is pretty slim though. For some reason people, usually strange people, just walk up and start talking to me.
Sorry to be vague but there are so many variables to my reaction - how the other person is staring , are they curious or do they wear a sneer or a smile?

I have been known to say 'Hi, do I know you?' if I feel they are staring in that type of way.

I have endured much staring over the years due to my extremely thick spectacle lenses which seem oddly to amaze some people, though I'm always happy to explain.

Often ignoring is the best way out.
if someone wants to stare at me good luck to em!
Like woofgang, I would wonder if it was someone I should have recognised.
I might give a small smile just in case, and then look away.
Hi naiilit, is it man or woman doing staring??
If it was a woman I would probably wink at them and blow them a kiss ... If it was a bloke I would probably wink at them and blow them a kiss
I get it quite a bit, as some people could recognise me, or maybe think they do.... doesn't bother me in the slightest, and on occasion, if they continue and really are gorking at me, just smile and gesture by opening my hand quickly, as if to say 'Alright'.

Of course, it could always be my charm, good looks and sharp dress sense that attracts the attention.....Probably not, though, eh? :-)
I too get stared at a lot. I pretend not to notice.

It's worse when I'm in the company of my mother and there are no men with us, and she's more adept at noticing it than me.

As long as it's not through a telescopic sight I couldn't give a stuff!
Ummmm...that's the complete opposite of my usual experience. Most people are terrified to talk to me.

There's a Doctor at work...he's friendly, laid back and seemingly quite kind. He's very chatty to everyone but me.

I often wonder if I scare people!

Both times in the last couple of weeks it has been a man. (most recently today...) The hackles go up, the fists clench, fight or flight response kicks in etc...

Today I had to literally change where I was going as this bloke stared at me, my first response was to challenge him but realised that he had no reason to stare and was probably mistaken as to why he was eyeballing me.
Still a bit unnerving though...

Not really. ..
Strange NoM because I don't think I'm really friendly or have a friendly face.

One time I was sitting outside a pub in Ireland and this oldish bloke walked by. OH said 'here we go!' I asked what he meant and he just said 'you'll see'...2 mins later the bloke walked back, walked into the pub, came straight back out again and sat next to me.

I left with knowing how much land he owned, how many cattle he owned, the fact he was looking for a woman and his phone number :-D
