Do you play an instrument if so which one.

Sorry that posted before I had finished,

As a child I wanted to play the piano. I was sent to lessons but never got the hang of it.

Keyboards, played all my life,
as well as running a Stables my Mother was a Piano Teacher,
for which I will be eternally grateful.

I had piano lessons as a child. I gave up because one of my sisters was so much better at it. She still plays nearly every day and is Grade 8. Wish I had not been so quick to stop learning.

I have a piano, always have. Can read music and knock a tune out or two but no way would I describe myself as a piano layer.

I play the trumpet and associated brass instruments. I can also coax a tune from a penny whistle.
I too could never get the hang of the piano or, sadly, the guitar.

Oh I wish, Cupotee.......Someone owed my father money...couldn't repay so gave him a piano....I was about seven.
A large, scary lady came to our house....my mum sat me in front of the piano and ordered.....play for the lady...

I plonked on the keys.....the woman said....Never will she play! The piano went....

I did try the accordion when I was in my thirties.......that's another story involving a rather randy accordion instructor...... ;-)

I did Grade 7 piano and Grade 5 guitar at school. Not much since, though.

Grass...I turned up for my first lesson in a knee length skirt.....fool that I am....
Sat with my accordion on my lap.....

Legs apart! Was the first instruction......

I'd rather not.....I replied.....

Can't play the accordion with your knees together....

I'll give it a try....said I.....

He grabbed my knees and parted my legs......I clapped my knees together....
he tried to part them......insisting it was the proper way to play.....play what I wondered.....

Honestly.....my knees went in and out more than the flipping accordion......

I cancelled the next five lessons and bought a penny whistle.....couldn't get on with that either..... :-(

I played the cornet in the Salvation Army Band until the age of about 12 years.

I played the piano, violin to grade 8 and cello to grade 6. I loved playing and was lead in orchestra. I put it on hold when i was 16 to focus on college and never went back to it. I hate playing instruments now because i'm so terrible compared to what I was. I have a guitar now which I am learning to play and really want a bouzouki.

I played the recorder, which I'm not sure counts for anything. I've been trying to learn the guitar for years but not getting anywhere. I'd love to be able to play the piano. Watching Elton John's concert last night, you can see the enormous amount of skill and genius it takes to play it well.

Grass......more puzzling than horrendous....and for all my joking about it...then and now......I do actually think he was quite innocent.....he'd have done the same I think if I wore trousers......
Long time ago but I recall thinking then that he wasn't really aware that he shouldn't be doing that......I think.....x

I did play guitar to a reasonable recreational level, and recorder to advance, but would dearly love to have been a pianist or a cellist. In fact I'd love to have been in an orchestra and played anything as long as I could do it well!

People will say that its never too late to learn, but sadly I beleive it is!
