Anyone tried (or is on) a low carb diet such as paleo, Atkins or something similar?

Im trying to shift a bit of lard and 'dieting' as such doesnt really float my boat. Calorie counting just leaves me feeling deprived and hungry so ive cut out carbs such as bread, rice and potatoes (and junk such as crisps and cake) and make up with extra veg.

today's food consumption has been:
breakfast...banana, strawberries, 1/4 pint of milk (smoothie)
dinner...tin tuna and huge salad
tea...pork chop and a mountain of veg, gravy

The above doesnt look like a lot of food but like I said the salad and veg intake has been huge and I havnt felt hungry or deprived.

Just wondered if anyone else has cut out carbs and felt better/lost weight in the long run?

(I know theres also carbs in fruit and veg but just trying to reduce, not eliminate also not particularly following any 'diet plan')

not as good as celeriac, tilly.....
I avoided ALL potatoes for my successful 12 month diet.
Celeriac, 9g of carbs/100g and sugar 1.6
spuds - the carbs are usually double of celeriac, the sugar level isn't that bad though.

Did anyone avoid carrots on their diet as they are quiet high in carbs as well. I eat carrots A LOT, cooked and raw.
Carrots ok in my diet.

Best advice I was given re Highly Processed Foods: If it looks like it was made in a factory, don’t eat it.
Carbs on carrots aren't too bad, the sugar is quite high within though...I eat a few, roasted or steamed.

So the above is bad for you? What is it ? It is the basis of the Mediterranean Diet.....less heart disease and strokes.

One of your genre, Sqad, out of London Uni, recommended this course of action, 3-4 months of minimalist carbs and then to slowly bring them back on the grains....
Well you might not live as long. but by golly you will die slim.....;-)
I'm not keeping this up for 30 years, you know - just to get back into reasonable shape.....

the Inuit people seem to do ok on a diet of animal protein and no veg or fruit.
on that note I am having a tunnocks tea cake and hot chocolate !
nailit....that is a very good point....they do indeed, which makes it even more confusing for young sqad.

I've lost 8 inches off my waist thanks to the low carb diet. I've had no side effects, apart from euphoria wearing 36' trousers once again!
I've lost 4 inches already and a lot from around the jaw-line.....
