Isn't the maximum you can get £300 per household...if one of you is over 80? Only £200 if both under 80. It's per household....not per person. So, they used to get £100 each...now it's £100 plus £200 (because she's 80+)
No age limit for this allowance its a set rate of £200 for everyone who draws a pension it was £250 then put down to £200 it doesn't go far with
high bills
Is your pal over 80? If not, according to the guidance on the government website they should only get £200 between them. To qualify for the higher payment (£300) at least one of them must be aged 80 or over during the "qualifying week". The qualifying week for 2014 was 15-21 September.
