Can anyone tell me what the healthiest, quickest breakfast is?

I don't have time before work in the mornings to eat, but I end up starving till lunch time. I want to eat healthy, but I need something I can grab on the way out and take with me to eat...

fruit, wholemeal toast, wholemeal muffin, oat cakes, rice cakes....that's all i can think of!  :-)

Porridge Oats but you have to cook them.  That would fill you up and keep you going til lunch!
The healthiest thing is to make time!!! Skipping breakfast is really bad for you, and can make you put on weight. If you really are in a rush then have some fruit but not a banana. Bananas release their sugar quickly, so youll be hungry again in no time!

Fruit, such as a salad of fresh peaches, pears and strawberries, sprinkled with mint leaves or a punnet of berries.  Or why not make up a smoothie from fruit (2 bananas and 1 mango with half a punnet of unblended raspberries) the night before and leave it in the fridge.  Put it in a travel mug and drink it on the go!

A poached egg on toast always works for me though.

Can of Draught Guinness !!
I would recommend 'Oat So Simple' .... the honey one is lovely ... 2 mins in the microwave, and that's it.  You won't feel hungry until lunchtime.
A couple of bananas.

I make porridge and it takes me 5 minutes- if that! I make it whilst doing the washing up from the night before!! Put half a cup of oats and half a cup of water, and half a cup of milk into a saucepan and bring to boil. When it starts bubbling, stir it and leave it for a few more secs. It takes as long to boil as a kettle does. So have your cup of tea with it! I also put a teaspoon of honey in it andswirl it around. I am not hungry until lunch this way. Quaker oats are the best- if you get organic ones they take half an hour to cook. Oatsosimple is also made with sugar and wheat and stuff, so has been tampered with far more than plain oats.

I also make mine with soya milk and is nice!

i would sugges tmaking time for breakfast :p but if not then i understand that toast and porridge arent exactly quick options. how about takin some fruit with you, or there are many different kinds of cereal and "on the go" bars. how about trying these?

Maybe you should get up a little earlier and make something but to 'grap' on the way out is not healthy and could cause stomache cramps.  Why not prepare something before you go to bed

I have a bowl of porridge (uncooked) with milk, rasins and or bannana.Keeps me going till lunchtime. Less than 5 mins to make and eat.
I just take a big box of Kellogs Frosties into work and eat them when I get there so I beat the traffic. There GREAAAAAAAAAT !!!!
Bovril on toast
I usually keep bags of dried berries and some nuts in my cabinet at work. Except for this week, where I opted for raiding the vending machine. Oh the shame... I'll probly have to exercise now.  :o(

Glass of fruit juice, a cereal bar (Sainsbury's own brand ones are delicious) and some plums or cherries or an apple or something. An added advantage of this is that it can be eaten while you're doing your make-up/finding your shoes/going to work.

I have a bowl of fruit salad (strawberries, reaspberries, blueberries, blackberries  and grapes at the moment) made up in the fridge. I add three serving spoonfuls of the fruit to a bowl of organic meusli with skimmed milk. I eat this every morning at 6.30am and am not hungry till lunchtime. Lovely and tasty and healthy!

Aside from not knowing what Bovril (??) is....all your suggestions are great.... and mouth-watering!

Sounds like you don't skip breakfast in the UK and get away with it! ;0)

According to GMTV recently, a bacon sarnie is about the healthiest thing you can have for breakfast! Muffins apparently have more calories!!
  • porridge with no sugar, if you like it.
  • If not, try stocking up on bottles of the cheapest smoothies you can find.
  • Other than that, all I can think of is fruit.
Do not listen to that lady_p_gold! The golden syrup (they don't do honey) oat-so-simple is possibly the most unhealthiest thing you could have. Get the original one and don't have any sugar on it (or put honey on).  that's what I have. If you've ever seen you are what you eat than that tells you that porridge is a good breakfast because it releases energy slowly across the day. It does keep you full.
