Why is it that we spend time wiping our bottoms after defication, so that we don't leave skids in our pants, but dogs just go and poo outside and don't bother wiping, then laze around their owners houses like they own the place and not leave skids everywhere? How does this work, are their anuses different in design (nb this applies to cats aswell, etc.)

An unpleasant thought, but perhaps an answer is that dogs seem to spend an awful lot of time licking their bottoms. Give me toilet paper any day!

I'd be happy if i could get my head down that far. For me, not the dog ya filthy minded get.

before you make any wild accusations as a dog owner you cant help but watch sometimes. it appears to me that the dogs anus unfurls slightly before defacation. after doing the doo, the dogs sphincter rolls back up and in, taking all trace of skids with it. i suppose its like a foreskin really.

You can't help but look?????, I think you'll find you can.

Let me tell you, they are quite capable of skids.  More like a splodge, though.

It's funny how we seem to find it amusing when they drag their botties across your good carpet, lovely :o)
