... this question emanates from a thread in News. Who among you has not at some time in your life been touched inappropriately by a man who was not your boyfriend/husband and whose attentions were unwelcome? I don't mean 'rape' - I mean groped.

I answered on the other one...

I have. The first in my teens, by a bloke who followed me off the train (we told the police) and secondly, a workmate. This was the early 1980s - I didn't do anything about it and we never mentioned it again.

Thanks for re-posting your answer, Boxy. What a blunder to post the question in the wrong section! 'Business & Finance' too! Haaaaa!
I have many times many years ago and if I didn't like it I made my feelings quite clear at the time not years later!
I have, Naomi....

In the sixties four of us in a hotel/pub in Ireland asked to use the toilet....the landlord showed us upstairs and held the door open for us to walk through...

I was last and didn't know why the other three squeaked as they passed him until he groped me too.....

It wasn't funny but we had a fit of the giggles...our age maybe?...and gave him a wide berth from then on.....x
LOL, I thought it was in Business and Finance because these sort of things happened at work :-)
Many a time though mostly a few years back. In clubs after a few and your on the dance-floor, everyone's bouncing off each other when it's really crowded so as soon as you turn around to shout at them, they've already disappeared into the throng.
I have at various times - each one was dealt with as the situation dictated.
Yes twice, once at a festival by a drunk and once when some random bloke came up to me and hugged me saying 'Hey how ARE you' whilst catching hold of my *** at the same time and then pretending he knew me, when he clearly didn't. Both of them got a big *** off and a good shove.
I was groped by a well known singer back in the late sixties whilst working as a waitress .As I lent across the table to put the drinks down he put his hand up my skirt .
The glass of beer that landed in his lap made sure he didn't do it again :)
Many times.
Yes a couple of times. The one I remember most vividly was when I was about 20 years old, in a pub and a man 'goosed' me, unfortunately for him he didn't realise how fast I could react, I broke the pervs fingers.
Yes I was touched inappropriately by quite a few of my older brother's friends when I was too young to grasp any significance (under 10) and had my boobs squeezed by a dirty old man when I was a teenager that really scared me and I didn't tell anyone. More seriously as an adult I was frequently groped and talked to offensively by a work colleague over a few years. I was too much of a wimp to say much. Other colleagues knew and laughed it off, I've lost count of the times I've thought about him since all this has hit the news and wondered if he's worried I might do something now. Fairly confident he isn't because he's not a celebrity.

Shaney, I like that!!

Rocky, oh my!

I suppose I ought to answer. From my teenage years onwards, I’ve been groped more times than I care to remember, and have given more slaps in the face than I care to remember. I went to a school reunion a few years ago and among all the hugs and kisses from people I hadn’t seen for years, one boy (now a man) from my form, sped towards me with open arms obviously intending to give me a big hug, but my automatic reaction was to cover my boobs with my arms! I have to say we both laughed. Clearly he hadn’t forgotten either. He was a menace!!

Oh straighforward pooka !
as straight as a die ( pool cue - erm straight thing )

and in the employment world if only everyone did that, how empty the complaint bins would be !

but as you have noticed they are stuffed full.

we always said give the a good slap however others preferred to go all woodgy and then complain later - - - much later like 20 y. or just whinge

I found this a bit of a problem as a middle manager - people who complained orally but wouldmt write anything down or sign anything on paper. As a caring line mgr I never said: my god you are driving me crazy with all this .....[ but I often thought it ]
Too many times to count!
Loads of times and from a young age (lived in a pub) and it was often by people that should have known better. It wasn't just the groping it was some of the things they thought it was acceptable to say.

One time I was sitting in my school uniform watching a pool game and a bloke came and sat down next to me (I knew him, but not well) he started chatting and asked could he take me swimming!! I said 'Yeah...but you'll have to ask my Dad' He asked who my dad was so pointed to him. He lost interest then. He must have been in his mid 30's....
Yes , many times.
Yes, I have said, very loudly, "take your hand off me" - exit one very red-faced man.
I don't think I have. Not really.
It was par for the course at school to get groped by boys at class changeover times when the corridors were crowded. Not a pinch on the bum but a proper underneath grab. We didn`t think anything about it - it was just the way it was. I think someone put his hand between my thighs when I was 14 and walking in a crowd to a fairground. I was sure I felt it and turned around sharply to find a respectable looking man and his wife walking behind me but I was sure he had done it. Then I got my thigh felt by a guy where I worked. There was a presentation going on to a group of Chinese businessmen and we were all crowded around and he was standing next to me. He knew I wouldn`t make a fuss at such a sober event. We all thought he was a fun guy but when I think about it now, he was an opportunist creep. A year or so ago, a funny little Indian man in a wool hat followed me around a shop and touched my bum - again I turned around and I knew it was him (I don`t think it was the other lady shopper) I`ve been lucky in that I have never had any serious gropes. I have had gay guys at work grab my boobs but as there was no sexual intent and they were just messing around it didn`t bother me as it was just a laugh.
