Horrible Horrible Sad Day.

I had an appointment at 2pm today, at the vets with my spaniel, Jack,
He has been a bit off colour for the last few days,
We had a lovely walk on the beach on sunday, monday night he wasn't that interested in his food,
tuesday, didn't eat all his tea again, wed, was sick about half seven at night and brought back everything he had eaten for last couple of days, rang vet an got appointment for 2 today.
He walked to the car and got in, very quiet, not his usual self.
Vet examined him and said 'we are going to have to do an x-ray'
I signed a consent form for them to operate if they needed to and left.
I had a phone call just after 7 to say that they were about operate.
Then another call at quarter to nine to say that they had lost him, he had eaten a piece of sharp plastic on the beach, it had punctured a small hole in his stomach and his gall bladder, he had been bleeding slowly inside, and had peritonitis.
I just can't believe he has gone, and I can't stop crying.
I walked him into the vets expecting him to be given some medicine, antibiotics, a tonic maybe, really really didn't expect him to die.
Life is sh*t sometimes isn't it. x

Thankyou all for your lovely words and thoughts, it doesn't seem real yet.
He is the dog in my avatar, when my daughter made it for me, she put Jack next to me because that is where he always is, ether sood at my side, asleep on the floor at the end of the bed, or sat on my feet so I can't move without him knowing.
