I googled borderline ovarian mucinous cystic adenoma on Wikipedia. I am concerned that one sentence says that borderline cases has a 10 year survival rate of 60%. Now I am confused cos I thought my GP meant that they were basically non-cancerous, whereas wikipedia intimates they are a form of ovarian cancer.

Could you advise me?

Morning.
I am no expert but I do know that an adenoma is a BENIGN tumour XX
sally........sqad no disrespect. I think the best course of action is to discuss your results with your surgeon,
....and stop looking on Wiki!
Stop googling Salla!!

Please. xxxx

I know Anne! But couldn't resist having a peek. It does clash with what my GP said, so I will wait to see my consultant,
when do you see your doc. ?
Question Author
I don't know yet. My GP rang me yesterday with the histology report, I haven't heard from my consultant yet.
can't see anything wrong with googling symptoms, myself. By and large you shouldn't take an online opinion over your own doctor's, but no harm educating yourself where you can.
you could phone the consultants secretary, and ask if/when you may get an out patients appointment
Question Author
I will do Anne. Or else I will be thinking that yesterday's celebrations were a tad premature.
I often have issues with on-line medicine.

This is a decision made by a Pathologist on the basis of borderline grading...yes, your tumour is regarded as "benign" because it has a 10 year survival of 99.5%..........can't truly call it benign as it does not have a 100% survival.

Did not want to mention it on yesterday's thread as i would have been accused of "p1ssing on the parade."

Your tumour, depending upon it 's "borderline grading", is as benign as an "borderline" tumour can be.

Does that help salla?
jno

That depends upon whether you have the right symptom.....

Sort of sqad, thanks. I guess my announcement of all-clear no-cancer was a bit premature. Better wait and see what my consultant says.
:-(
salla.....no it isn't ;-(...........it is almost certainly...:-)

C'mon salla. Let me know the staging.
let me know the staging ?
Question Author
I don't have any staging yet. My GP got the result verbally over the phone to the Lab yeaterday, the full paper report isn't through yet - I have just spoken to him.
Question Author
I have an appointment with my consultant this Friday morning. So not long to wait.
salla....when i said let me know the staging, i meant when you knew it..;-)
Question Author
Will do - this Friday hopefully when I have seen the Big Man x
Salla ! Xx was just asking on my other thread about you...hope it goes well Friday...agree stop reading things !!!
