Really BOO? I think it just shows you are happy and content with life.
When I am out and about I make a point of smiling at shop assistants/bank staff etc when they serve me as there are far too many grumpy people out there
I work in a shop so smile a lot and love having a chat and laugh :)

I agree Mrs O,and ive even smiled to strangers in the street and said good morning to them to see how many smiles i get back!It usually does the trick!

I agree, a smile and a friendly word costs nothing.
No, I don't.
So have I.
Georgiesmum, I do that too if I catch someone's eye. This will probably make me sound like a goody two shoes (or a lunatic) but I make a point of smiling at a stranger every time I am out and about. I like to think it spreads a teeny bit of happiness.
I smile when I need to, I think it would be weird to just walk around smiling
^ Especially with no lips.
If I got an inane grin from a woman in a nylon housecoat and marigolds, I would be very worried.
I have a permanent frown on my face. People think I'm miserable, but I'm not. Far from it, actually.
They say it uses more muscles to frown than smile... which is probably why I have (had) a massive frown line.

But Hopkirk, if it was a luscious grin from an international supermodel?
I would probably have to sit down for a while.
I think people smile when there is a reason to smile. I think smilling and saying hello to people you don't know is extremely odd and I detest when people do it to me.... I find it irritating.
Me too. Old people do it quite a lot, don't they.
You can't really be mean to an old person though, and I tend to say it back and then start up a random conversation about the weather.

The more I think of it, the more I sound like a real-life Miranda.

I dont think its odd at all. I think its just being polite. When i walked up the village the other day, three different people smiled at me and said good morning to me and i said good morning to them back, but i didnt know them!
"three different people smiled at me and said good morning to me and i said good morning to them back, but i didnt know them!"

Living life on the edge eh! :))

Can't be doing with smilers.
