Mr O took me out for a meal to a restaurant with an open kitchen, where you could see the staff at work. He went off to the loo and was followed in by the chef. The chef went into a cubicle and going by the grunting noises followed by a splash, Mr O deduced the man was having more than a wee. The chef then left the cubicle and the loo and went straight back into the kitchen and resumed cooking.....without having washed his hands.
Mr O hustled me out of the restaurant so fast my feet didn't touch the ground.

Maybe he was firing the burnt spuds down the toilet before the owner saw them .There,s always a innocent answer to everything
I have never walked out of a restaurant, but i will if I witnessed that!!!!
I'd have something to say on the way out though.

Funnily enough the same chef moved to a different restaurant last year. Shortly after that he was fined £5,000 for food hygiene regs offences
Perhaps he dropped his fag lighter down the bog.
yes, me and my husband and parents walked out of a resturant in leicester square once - we were waiting 1/2 hour for our bill so i went up to one of them and asked if they were ever going to give us the bill - he said you'll have to wait for your server, so i replied "do you want us to just walk out then" and he shrugged his shoulders, so we did. The hilarious thing was that my parents thought i'd paid, and being the polite people they were, they had left a tip!
Mrs. O, that's gross. I'm chuckling at the spuds and lighter reply though. Both made me lol.

Bednobs, that reminds me of the time a group of us went to a friend's new restaurant. We spent a fortune and were a bit worse for wear. One of the group said "I've sorted the bill" so we took this to mean he'd paid it and we all left. What he really meant was that he's got he bill and worked out what each of us owed.
We did go back and pay later,
I have, taking five puzzled people with me for the same reason, MrsO. New people took over a pub restaurant with great fanfare. I went to the loo and the waitress who had taken our order came in and left without washing her hands.
It wasn't long before it too had problems with hygiene regulation offences.

Good morning Gness xx

Gross behaviour - with no excuse

burnt spuds....fag lighter.....I ask you!
I've left a restaurant twice though not my decision at the time. Once it was because it took them ages to come over with the menus and the other was because even though they made mussels and chips in the restaurant they refused to serve them together! That's what we all fancied at the seaside that day.
Morning MrsO....so many people don't handwash after using the loo.......don't they feel grubby?
On the hygiene front. They may have washed their hands in the kitchen as quite honestly handling door handles between the loo and the food they'd need to be washed again. There are loads of germs on toilet door handles.

coccinelle - that would drive me mad.

I did a flounce out of a pub when I went to the bar to order food and the lad behind the bar was too busy chatting to a girl to serve me
Question Author
cocinelle - the chef didnt wash his hands - the kitchen was open plan and he went straight back to cooking
Question Author
Gness, it amazes me how many people don't wash their hands after going to the loo and it annoys me when they have kids with them.
Yuck - it's put me off going out to eat now.
Many years ago I was in a very popular village pub restaurant...great food and still is. On this occasion however things went awry.
We were enjoying our main course when there was the commotion from hell coming from the kitchen...screaming..swearing...pots and pans flying...plates smashing.
The proprietor came into the dining room and calmly told us that chef had gone berserk, there would be no dessert and it might be a good idea if we all left immediately. No charge. Just go.
The exit from the car park was hillarious.
We all know how important hygene is and do be hygenic .Not all and I would imagine few out breaks of sicknees is cause because of this .The only washing of hands going on now is the washing their hands of it is the companies who are feeding us god knows what.
The lack of hygiene must be horrendous but it's witnessing it that makes eating the food impossible.
I was once served by a girl with whom I had never got on at school. We hated each other. She was politeness itself but I bet she spat in my soup before leaving the kitchen.
