What Is This Test Called?

My German doctor asked me yesterday what was the name English name for the test where you sit on a bicycle apparatus and pedal against an increasingly hard resistance until you are - to use a non-medical term- 'knackered' and then measurements are taken of your heart and lungs etc.
I suggested it might be a stress-test, but I don't think that is correct, can anyone oblige please?

It's a cardiac stress test. You're hooked up to an ECG while doing the physical exercise, either on a bike or treadmill

Rather boringly, I have always known them as cardiac and pulmonary function evaluation exercise tests :)

it's an ECG test in the UK used by
the emergency services to test fitness levels,

I know, mine was rather a boring answer. Still, to convey the essence of the test, I do not think "Stress test" really fits the bill, since it does not specify what is being stressed :)

Cardio-Pulmonary Stress Testing perhaps? At least that has the advantage of being accurate :)

I seem to remember the german for "matchbox" seemed to go on for about a kilometre - have I got that right, or is memory playing tricks now?
