Just as I was congratulating myself in getting through Christmas and New Year without so much as a sniffle! Woke up today aching from head to foot, sore throat, blocked nose and sneezing my head off. Not flu methinks, just a bad cold, so I will take to the settee with a box of tissues, some paracetamol and a hot drink and feel really sorry for myself for the rest of the day. Everybody say Aaaaaahhhhhhhh.

Sounds like you are doing everything that you can to combat the cold. I thought I had one coming on so at the very first sign of a sniffle took cold and flu tabs, it kept it at bay and didnt fully develop. I think some people try and concince themselves its "only a cold" and soldier through but I have taken that approach and I felt ill for 2 weeks. So rest up and take it easy and you should be ship shape in a couple days
Poor you Maggie - I have been saying that I have escaped too, tried not to kiss anyone at Church at the Christmas Day service, or join in with the yukky kissing of strangers at the new years eve bash at the stroke of midnight! Don't care if people think I'm anti-social, I just think of all the germs haha. But I feel a bit sniffly every morning when I wake up so maybe its just lurking to attack soon :(
Hope you feel better soon Maggie, try lemsips with a spoonful of honey and neat honey trickled down your throat if you get a cough. x
good advice from jd. cold and flu meds only mask the symptoms and do nothing for the virus. I started a cold on the 19th dec and am still chesty with it, all you can do is rest as much as you can and keep fluids up. if your diet isn't good, a multivit might help.
