i have been invited to go metal detecting at the weekend. i have never done this and have always thought it would truly reveal the hidden geek in me, has anyone else been out with a metal detector and what did you find?
Whilst looking at a patch of land where the detector had indicated something metal, himself found part of a human finger. The police took it away but we moved shortly after and never found out what happened next.
I've always said I'd like to run one over my land so someone bought me one for Christmas last year. I've yet to use it so I haven't found anything. :o/
I know a chap in Italy who used to spend a lot of time with a metal detector on the beach and in the water. Did very well and found a lot of jewellery.
i'm used to that anyway squarebear, that's not going to bother me, anyway, we are apparently going to a disused industrial site, which i said was silly cos of all the discarded metal but appaently he knows what he is doing, the aim is to progress to underwater detecting, that's not exactly as appealing
A friend of mine in Weymouth is a keen metal detector(ess) she goes to the beach sometimes, finds coins and watches, mainly mobiles left by amorous couples or drunken guys. She enjoys it there is a social side to it too.
Dotty, I'd love to have a go - it strikes me as a really good way (for me) to get out in the open air - let us know how you get on. I'd like to find out if there is a society or something that I could tag along with.
