Which shampoo is best for the removal of product build-up? I used to use Vosene Build Up Remover shampoo, but it's no longer stocked in the shops.

far better to buy a shampoo that doesn't put a build up on your scalp and hair in the first place shazzabell. Read the ingredients and avoid anything with sodium laurel sulphate and sodium laureth sulphate in it.

Hi Shazzabell, I use "Herbal Essences" Clarifing shampoo, for normal/greasy hair once a week. It's the green bottle with Rosemary, Jasmine & Orange flower, it cleans your hair of oil and styling build-up without stripping it, and it smells really nice.  :-)

look for a clairifying shampoo.
i used to use the pantene, but have been converted have you tried the tre-semme range.

Thanks for ALL your answers peeps.Think I'll give the Herbal Essences one a go :-)

PS I know this is not really what you are after shaz, but did you know that some conditioners also leave an unhealthy build up? look out  for tallow and animal fat. but this can be stripped off with a vinegar solution for dark hair or a lemon solution for fair. Hope you enjoy your new shampoo...

Most experts just recommend that you change shampoo brands every few weeks, and that will help remove build-up.
Use a bit of fairy liquid (hairdresser recommended) but make sure you condition afterwards.
My Mum always used to swear by an egg! She used to use a lot of hairspray and stuff and said that the best way to get rid of all that kind of stuff was to break an egg onto your hair and massage it in. You have to be careful to rinse in cool water though, don't want scrambled egg in your hair! Funnily enough I was reading this week somewhere that Catherine Zeta Jones uses egg on her hair!
Neutogena clean shampoo. Removes all deposits on hair.
Head & Shoulders will pretty much strip your hair of everything.  Otherwise, if you put a shampoo into your hair dry and massage it in before rinsing/repeating, then this should do the trick.
