But jno, you never know what's round the corner!

Life itself is one big adventure. Sometimes it is planned. Sometimes it just happens and comes as a nice or sometimes not so nice surprise. Marriage, Kids,  Divorce, An affair ( not the reason for the divorce by the way),Broken Leg, Travel, Boat Ownership.

I was once told by a dying friend, who was still quite young at the time and still had things to do that if you want anything in this life, if you have a dream,  then go for it cos' life is too short. I have always lived life with that in mind and looking forward to my next adventure.

I posted this question because my life seems rather unadventurous at present.  I did a lot in my younger days - travelling, working abroad, etc and used to just pack up and go on a whim!   I did travel to Borneo, Brunei and Australia by myself to visit friends and family and that was only six years ago, but I am beginning to feel the call to do something really wild!!  I need to cuddle a fully grown tiger before I leave this life.

Life really is one big adventure and is what you make it.  However small a challenge we take up it is still a personal adventure - we don't all have to climb Everest!

Please keep your adventures coming - I need some inspiration!

I am studying abroad right now, so I am on an ongoing adventure, but I the coolest adventure I've ever had was my first multi-day trip into Lechuguilla Cave. http://www.extremescience.com/LechuguillaCave.htm

We spent five days in this vast and beautiful cave taking inventory of the different minerals found deep within.  This expedition required lots of technical climbing and rope work.  When we left the cave, I felt so inspired and happy to be alive.  I love adventures like that!

In 1975 (when I was 18), four of us set off in an old Ford Capri, intending to spend two weeks in France. For reasons that are now lost in the mists of time, we kept on driving... through Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and then into Turkey. We were arrested twice for inadvertently straying into countries for which we had no visas!

The following year I went to Scotland for my holiday, which somehow seemed tame!

Bit like you FP, travel was the big adventure. Working on a ship, vanning round Europe, working in London. Quite content at home now, and enjoying adventures on a much smaller scale.

That's you and me both jno!!  I've never even been abroad - wonder whether I'm the only one?

Think I'll start a new thread FP!

I would be terrified in those caves newtron.  I do admire you.  Caving and climbing are two things I just couldn't even think about - I would be terrified!!  How fantastic though.  The website is great - is it your own website?

Thikasabrik - Oh to be young and carefree again and not worry about such little things as being arrested!

Have tried different things like rollerblading, ice-skating, horse riding, glass bottom boat riding, catamaran riding,  water rides at Centre Parcs, climbed peaks as high as 7359 feet. - not a really sporty person by nature, am fit, but have been more interested and involved in music, writing and in other artistic pursuits so activities like these are an adventure to me.

I love to keep trying different things too DarkAngel.  I really would like a hot air balloon flight and would love to sky dive, although I know I would be petrified.  I just think that trying new things when we can keeps life interesting - never too old for adventures!!
