I went to the Benefits Office to request a written explanation about my HB and it's going to be in the post!!

I asked the question, "What if I got a cheaper rented property"? She said, it wouldn't make any difference. You've proved that you are renting a property, you've proved your income each month and you proved that your daughter needs to live with you. Your benefit has been assessed on that basis. End of.

Well, she didn't actually say "end of" but that's what she meant.

So I could move out of here, for a place that costs me what I'm paying now with the kind reduction and my benefit would remain the same.

It has redhelen. I never thought I was doing anything wrong in the way that I understood how the HB works now, but then I'm new to this situation, so i wasn't aware of the old system.

True, true redcrx. It gave me a "glif" last night though.
So pleased that you have got the official 'stamp of approval' - it's such a worry to be at the mercy of a system you don't understand (and don't actually want to be a part of in the first place).
