My friend has cancer of lymphnodes - she is in hospital getting various tests. Yesterday they told the lymphnodes have wrapped around duodenal and has caused internal bleeding. Consultant is going to try a little chemo - Squad - do you have lymphnodes (naturally) around duodenal or have they wrapped themselves round. Thanks

Connemmara.....yes in the normal person there are lymph nodes throughout the body as a part, but only a part of the immune system (the defence of the body against foreign invaders)

The abdomen is "littered" with these lymph glands closely held in a "net" called the mesentery.........a sort of cosy association.
Now.....if these glands get either infected or take part in a malignant process e.g Lymphoma, then they can indeed "invade" the wall of the gut and it would be accurate to describe this as "wrapping themselves around"
