Embarassing Problem

I've had gastro problems for a while and am still awaiting the results of s sehcat scan and wireless capsule endoscopy.

I asked a GP a while back as I though, due to a LOT of pain and some bleeding and irritation having gone on a long while (years), I had piles. The GP said it wasn't piles but a fissure so gave me some scheriproct ointment which is great.

The fissure won't go away though and I'm still using the ointment a lot.

For the last few months in some particularly painful spells it has seemed like bits of poo are getting stuck as it feel like there is something stuck there (back from the passage itself) and it relieves a lot of the pain and irritation once it has been expelled.

When I have been putting the ointment on I can also feel underneath like something is stuck there. I have a lot of diarrhoea and it feels like I have acid coming out down there a lot, it's just so painful.

Have no idea when I will get back to gastro as they seem to have a ridiculously long waiting list. I had the tests months ago though so am hoping something will come through soon.

If anyone has any ideas as to what can help they would be very gratefully received as it's just horrible :(

I cannot begin to imagine the pains and discomforts you must be going through; isn't it possible for you to see a private doctor? Your condition sounds very serious.
I'm sorry to hear of your pain and discomfort.
If you haven't received any results back yet, get on to your GP pronto (although it will now be Monday before anything can be done)

OH's GP suggested a change of diet to soften movements etc. Didn't particularly help I'm sorry to say.

Wish you well
um...it could be something serious but I dont want to say anymore. Sorry. I speak from family experience.

I will go back and see my GP, see if they can do anything.

I thought of softeners though as I have problems with diarrhoeah anyway I don't really want to mess about too much with that kind of thing unless it's under medical supervision and I'm scared of making it worse.

If anything I'm trying to stop the diarrhoea but don't want to risk having more problems as above. Rock and a hard place really.

I had a camera up and down as they were thinking inflammatory bowel, both seemed ok save some polyps which they checked out and said were fine. Gastro consultant said he wanted a closer look at my small bowel though as they can't really see it on the colonoscopy. Unfortunately the problems my question is about started after the colonoscopy which was probably well over 18 months ago now.

They seem to think maybe crohns as also have general inflammatory arthritis (am only 31) and a vitamin D deficiency.

Just feeling really miserable at the moment as also having problems keeping a lot of food down and throwing up a lot and in quite a lot of pain and feeling very sick a lot of the time. I'm on anti sickness drugs and immune suppressants to help.

I did look up my consultant and he does private. Am tempted to see how much he charges for a consultation.
I can only speak from experience of bowel and anal problems - not a medic!
You are obviously very anxious about this and that will not help. Bowel problems are very uncomfortable and disabling, so at a practical level, you need to try and address these. Are there any things you can do to relax a bit?.

You probably have some very sore spots, possibly scarring from your isssures just inside your bowel which makes things feel as if things are stuck, so a suppository type of treatment may help to ease that.

You should look again at diet and persist with it.

Sorry I can't offer a cure, but like all these things it may be a whole series of little steps that ease it. Try not to force anything, or to go too often, it just seems to make things worse in my experience.

I really hope that things improve - only sufferers know how embarrassing and debilitating it can be!
jenna..go back to you GP and have that fissure looked at again. It sounds as though it has developed into a chronic fissure-in-ano and you may have developed a perianal abscess or a ano-rectal fistula (Tract between the skin and anus) It would appear that you may need surgery (minor) to that problem.

Saw my GP this morning (also had an infected leg wound!) and he said that they are not equipped to properly view and deal so has said to chase up gastro and if no joy (I have been waiting over 6 months I think to hear back from them now) he will chase to get me seen soon.

He has given me some new treatment to try in the meantime though.

So more waiting I guess but going to try and chase gastro up and see what that brings.

Thank you for all your help :)
