I really wish Boris and his health minister would stop dishing out the bull., telling us all that the UK is really well prepared for this virus. The battle plan, having more people manning the 111 number, What for? for them to tell you to self isolate, that's if you get through at all, you may have to listen to a recorded message of the lords prayer while waiting for them to tell you that.
He also states that the NHS as stockpiles of medicines, ( to treat what)?
Well prepared, or even partly prepared would be to have done what China did, masses of beds on stand by, and a lot more than 50/ 500 ventilators in stock. Maybe time to stop giving £3 a month to all the other crapp, and divert ones £3 a month to ventilators, as it don't look like the government worry to much about not having them. Rant over:0)

Governments try to inform without creating panic. I'm not sure the hand sanitizers in supermarkets would be all that effective really, although that said they can do no harm. I've been in a few restaurants recently (Chinese included) that have provided hand sanitizers by the front door for people to use as they go in. I've no idea how many use them but I did.

Son sent us a large box of face masks a couple of weeks ago having paid the going rate for them. He just emailed that, "if I was a turbo-capitalist" I could now sell them on eBay for 400 Euros!

Bobbs, it at least is an effort by the dentist to try and control, but I can't really see anyone telling the truth, if they have wicked toothache. The selfishness and greed for money is a much bigger fight than the one we have in the virus.

12.04 n24, I believe that most schools are at the moment making it a big thing with the kids, lots of kids go to supermarkets with their moms/dads, so its a good education for them anyway , it doesn't have to be panic mode. If other people are using sanitizer at the door it would be harder for others to choose to walk on by. It also seems a god given right for the big supermarkets to get a score of 5 on the door, I sometimes question that.

Neighbour just told us that she went to several supermarkets yesterday because she REALLY needed some toilet-paper & everywhere was sold out, but she finally obtained some at a chemist's.

It seems that soon we may not have anything to eat, but at least we'll be able to ......... !

Slightly off topic but concerns the virus, the specialist at Brighton's Royal Sussex hospital has readily agreed to a telephone consultation rather than me go down there so I'm pleased about that:-)

15.08 I don't see it as scaremongering, I see AB as a good source of information at the present time, and for the coming future. Lot more scary if your not hearing anything at all. My be toilet rolls a little off the scale. :0)

Not in the slightest worried, it will all blow over, probably when all the idiots listening to the scaremongers have emptied all the ruddy supermarket shelves !! Sick to death of hearing about it. Trillions of people in the world and OMG a handful MAY have it. Real flu is much more of a problem in this country as other posts on other threads have stated and shown the stats. Think I'll give all the news a miss for the forseeable future !!!

I'd rather lay on the beach with the virus than the bed at home looking at the ceiling. And the way the NHS is you may get better treatment, just insure yourself up to the eyeballs. :0)
