I really wish Boris and his health minister would stop dishing out the bull., telling us all that the UK is really well prepared for this virus. The battle plan, having more people manning the 111 number, What for? for them to tell you to self isolate, that's if you get through at all, you may have to listen to a recorded message of the lords prayer while waiting for them to tell you that.
He also states that the NHS as stockpiles of medicines, ( to treat what)?
Well prepared, or even partly prepared would be to have done what China did, masses of beds on stand by, and a lot more than 50/ 500 ventilators in stock. Maybe time to stop giving £3 a month to all the other crapp, and divert ones £3 a month to ventilators, as it don't look like the government worry to much about not having them. Rant over:0)

pixie, read above form several sources, this is not about convenience of travellers or money. It's just not possible to do what you said. It's not like the odd dog or cat it's 100,000 per day from Heathrow alone. Or say we close the borders when should we have started turning ships and planes away? How long before our infrastructure collapses? You are focusing on the disease only. Should we have closed up shop for SARS? Bird Flu? Ebola? We'd be living in the dark ages in a few weeks. It's a fact of life that modern transport inevitably spreads disease, we fight it how we are fighting it, stop the spread as best we can and develop a vaccine ASAP.

Yes we are - and we all know he's a twit at times - but several years down the line you'd think the interminably vitriolic would have become tired of muck raking under stones for their next pathetic morsel of spite. Still, keeps them focused I suppose so happy days.
