I wore a pair on a flight to the USA, admittedly a long time ago [1989], but they were very comfortable. In fact, I forgot that I had them on. I had no problems with swelling of the legs or ankles, but was that because of the socks or just good luck? I don't know. For the record, they were Scholl Flight Socks, and they reached up to just below the knee.
I wore them after breaking my ankle and going on a 10hr flight. I like wearing them, they are meant to feel tight but obviously not so they cut off your circulation! The Scholl ones (as bookinder has mentioned) are the ones I used too. Boots sell their own and they are apparantly good too. :)
I have to wear compression garments all the time and you forget you have them on.
Yep, I've worn them and they're not uncomfortable at all, infact you forget you have them on and get one of those lovely elastic sock marks below your knee!
I woudn't fly without them: they are really very comfortable. I always put them on before leaving home as it can be very inelegant trying to put them on at the airport!!

thanks guys will give them a try
i put mine on before setting off to the airport
by the time i boarded the aircraft, i was not even aware of them
there needs to be a degree of tightness to them to encourage venous flow
i have no trouble with my legs, but am a bit elderly (lol)
Should i wear socks on a long flight to Aussieland?
Most definitely, pusskin. They need to be flight socks, though.
Thanks ann. Flight socks for me then, and plenty of walkabouts on the plane
I wear them, I find them comfy and forget I've got them on. Wear them for any flight of more than 3 hrs. No idea what make, 'er indoors bought them.
Can you buy them in chemist, or would airline provide them if you ask?
Pusskin
If this is the first time, I'd practise putting them (and taking them off!) a few times beforehand as they need to be positioned carefully. Scholl and Boots do them.
Have a great flight and enjoy Oz.
You need to buy them, but they're more than worth the money.
Okey dokey. So glad i have just noticed this post!
I forgot that these socks save swelling and that they are a safeguard to any problems occuring.x
Don't forget these socks come in different sizes and lengths. Other half went into Boots for hers and they measure you for them to get right fit. She needed full length ones. Thought I would mention it just in case anyone thought one size fits all.
Thank you for putting this thread up fruitsalad.
Flight socks have now gone on my shopping list!
I didnt know they came in sizes, so thanks for tip x
