If you are expecting visitors to your home do you run around like a lune making sure the house is immaculate and add touches that you'd never usually bother with, e.g. fresh flowers in the loo. Or do you go for the 'take me (and my home) as you find me' approach?

Option 1 for me Eccles. Drives the old man nuts. Fortunately we don't have that many house guests.. Which one are You ?
Option 1... its the only time the house gets a thorough clean!! My hubby invites peolple about once a month, just so we have to have a good tidy up!!
Option 1 for me as well which is fine until unexpected visitors turn up on the day you have decided to have a clear out and you're wearing something really scruffy and the rest of the house is a tip.
Would give it a general tidy up but not go over the score. I'm a bit of the "you come to see me, not my house" brigade.
How was the Beef and you reunion evening giveup?
Lovely thanks Mazie, just had beef sandwiches for lunch. Off to Torquay this weekend for a dinner dance and also going to Plymouth to take our grandson out for a meal with some fresh veg etc. He's in his first term at uni and assures me there are plenty of vitamins in noodles and Iceland Pizzas!!

When it's family then the house is immaculate, friends are usually advised to not look too far into the corners.....

First time guests who are friends get a bit of a halfway house........
Take me and my house as you find me. No point in putting on any airs and graces as I would only let myself down.
due to maulings, i don't have visitors...
As I employ a cleaner I trust that the house is always in a satisfactory state of cleanliness. I buy fresh flowers every weekend anyway (my definite extravagance)
I like spotless and sparkly. I only invite people so the house gets a good clean.
Option 1 because nobody would want to stay in my house otherwise as it is a miden!!
Take us as you find us, we're clean, reasonably friendly and sociable, and that includes the hounds, most of the time!
;o)
Flowers are my big weakness as well...I don't go as far as having them in the loo though !

(glad it went well paidup and have a lovely week-end x)
Oh spotless, cleaned to death. But when I welcome them in I say. "You'll have to excuse the place I haven't had time to clean up'.
There's only the two of us now, so generally speaking the house is always clean and tidy. I just go into "Fuss" mode when anyone comes...Suppose it gives me something to do.
Flowers in the loo!
Doesn't that tickle your b*m?
oooh beef sandwiches, tasty! Glad it went well giveup x

None of you lot have complained about my living-room and most of you are in there every day :-)

I like spotless and sparkly too, but since my cleaner deserted me I am going down a more relaxed path.....

I might just feed them non stop alcohol to make their sight sufficiently bleary to not notice the dust and claim that I am offering winter shelter to the spiders and the cobwebs HAVE to stay.......
LOL ladybirder Just in case they find a speck of dust ?
