When most 82 year olds, would not have a clue on how to cheat the benefits, here we have an 82 year old who was the ring leader of a migrant family of five who ‘broke every rule in book’ to swindle benefits.

He was handed a 12-month sentence, suspended for two years due to his age and ill health, was it fair that he got away scot free with his crimes?

He didn't get away "scot free" as you put it. He got a suspended sentence and, hence, a criminal record.

Are you advocating putting an 82 year old into prison, AOG? That's even sordid by your heartless standards. What about the costs of keeping him there, though I suppose that Ken Clarke could ask for you and your EDL mates to dip in your deep pockets and sponsor his incarceration.

And keeping him in there would block a place for a more deserving "student".

Or are you advocating something even more despicable like kicking him out of the country and away from his family?

/// Or would you applaud them for taking from the rotten stealing penny pinching government? ///

What an utterly silly statement to make, it is not the 'penny pinching government's' money, it is 'our' money this thieving conniving family have taken.

And yes if they had been white I would also have been equally outraged, but no on second thoughts I wouldn't, seeing that they should not have been in this country in the first place.

We have enough benefit swindlers of our own instead of them coming in through the back door.

Yawn......picking over the old vulture's spoils. Enjoy the rant.
aogs posts are ace when theres nowt on tv.... which is all the time :D
I don't see why he shouldn't have been locked up...........they lock up pensioners who don't pay their council tax.
What has being 82 years old got to do with it?

The sentence must fit the crime at whatever the age.

He is an 82 year old swindling "git" and i don't know, but just guess, that he has a past history of criminal acts.
Yes, 82 or 102, black, white, orange or purple, he should have received a prison sentence.
So, she gets 10 months suspended and he gets 15 month imprisonment for committing the same crime?
The biggest mystery though is as they are illegal immigrants, why have they not been deported?
"The illegal immigrants could now be deported. "

I'm assuming they will be- hopefully.
I think that's an assumption, AOG, that people of 82 don't have their wits about them....
Because Toby570, the big bad man back home will do unspeakable things to the returnees, allegedly.
Send them all back AOG. They have to be taught not to swindle us lot over here. We've got enough jumping on the bandwagon as it is!
I read it that he was legal, the family brought in not.....I agree with the comment about equal treatment for the offence.
I have always thought that government agencies such as immigration and the police, should employ criminals of all types because of their knowledge on how to fiddle the system, and use them to help them fight against further crimes from others. This gentleman should be employed rather than imprisoned; It would be cheaper, and the potential savings for the future would be enormous
Good idea Khandro....It was the States occasionally does.

I know of one guy, (strange man but brilliant) who was extradited from the US for 10000 cases of hacking - can you imagine reading the charge list out in court?

Anyway, he didn't go to gaol, rather to the FBI......

He is now free of that obligation and teaches Oracle to Oracle users.
That is why we get all the dregs from all over the world cause they no thy can get away with eny think here the judges have lost touch with justice
But let's hope they've a better grasp of written English eh redvanman?
I think the biggest deterrence to other like-minded cheating immigrants (guests in our country dont forget) is to deport them back from whence they came !
