i have read it and its the worst book i have ever read
(i) it aint BDSM, it's a romantic story
(ii) it appeals to women's curiosity, the whole power exchange thing - wit Indecent Proposal
(iii) it has been brilliantly marketed.
On trend is the phrase I hear. Of course that's just the Yanks reinventing the wheel, again.
Just been a programme on Channel 4 about it - I watched 5 mins and switched it off, preferred to be on Answerbank ;)
well I bought it to see if it was as good as the hype. Sadly, I got bored with
it and still have the third book to read, weeks down the line, have read five
books, thrillers, since.
I refuse to read it because of all the silly giggling about it (FB, etc), did read an extract on the net and it is so badly written. However, good luck to the author who has made shed loads of money, wish I'd written it.

BUT - What is the bloody point? Lady Chatterley was a great novel with a bit of sex. What is the point of this ? You say not BDSM. Why ?
(What's BDSM? - sheltered life).
have you read it thenry?
Question Author
chi - not the whole trilogy ! but I know it amounts to as much crap as the Harry Potter rubbish - the modern generation couldn't handle the deep tapestry of literature as written by David Herbert or Laurie Lee !!!

I read it out of curiousity because all my friends had - I'm not bothered to read books 2 and 3, but there was something about the writing style which made it a very easy read. Nothing nasty, but titillating. If nothing else, it's got thousands of women reading books who may not otherwise have done so - that can only be a good thing!
>>>why has this been such a hit ?

Because many people are non-thinking lemmings who just follow the trend.
Fortunately I've got a Kindle, where you can sample a book before you buy - I sampled, but didn't buy, it was rubbish.
Is this the book about rude ladies doing naughty things that their mothers never told them about, and are best left in the hands of us blokes?
