best book you've ever read

What is the best book you've ever read?
for me it would have to be his dark materials by phillip pullman
ok, so it's not technically 1 book, but i bet if i get any answers, people will be giving 2 or three!

After I'd read it, I was at a loss to say what it was about.

There's this guy on a Greek island, and this other bloke who's a bit weird, and some strange things happen. Or maybe they don't really happen. The End.

Is that a good summary?

I should submit that to a book review website.

"Earthly Powers" by Anthony Burgess or "The Ends of the Earth" trilogy by William Golding.

Probably "Earthly Powers", an amazing book

I read the Magus JJ, I was confused as well, thought it was revenge on the guy can't remember his name, but he was a user and abuser. I thought it was all about revenge, but as Fowles doesn't really explain it, it could just be about a satanist on his holidays.

Well it was hard to pick just one but I think A Town Like Alice by Neville Shute as this is the book I have read the most, but also loved The Island by Victoria Hislop and To Kill a Mockingbird is probably my favourite classic. Unfortuately as an avid book reader I read so much that I love it is always hard to choose

My absolute favourite is My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell. I remember my junior school teacher reading it to us just before home time. I loved it. Second fave is Twilight - obviously - the most romantic book I have ever read.
