There very much is, jno. I send handwritten letters. I use a fountain pen, of which I have a large collection, as well as calligraphy pens of varying types. I absolutely love handwriting and calligraphy. Always have done. I made a calligraphy greeting for the Mayor of Lviv some years ago.
In answer to the OP, someone close to me has had lots of treatment for cancer recently, so I have been helping there. I would send a calligraphic letter of support, but that's just me, otherwise, a hand written letter of support. Definitely.
