a person who i've worked with for the last 3 years has just found out er husband in his 30s has cancer. she is a contractor and works in an office 350 miles away from me hence i have never met her in person, but have at least weekly meetings with her, and i feel i know her reasonably well. she's going to be WFH for the forseeable future. id like to send her a little gift to show my support, but it's something i'd need to send to her office as i dont know her address, so it might not get to her immediately.

perhaps a handwritten letter (if there's any such thing as handwriting these days)?
I sent one of these to someone having a tough time.

You can get some lovely little book of poems, that are uplifting, providing inner strength etc.
A worry stone for her to keep within reach.
I can't do links on my tablet but Google worry stones for anxiety. There are some lovely ones available. I have a Connemara marble one and find it very comforting.
Perfume. It keeps and always makes you feel better.
flowers with a bland message
For the address why not ask her office

I would hope yhe office wouldn't give me her address!
I would search for an appropriate 'Thinking of You' card and write a sincere message
I agree with elliemay - a thoughtfully worded card would seem appropriate.
A Crystal ?

"...a handwritten letter (if there's any such thing as handwriting these days)?"

There very much is, jno. I send handwritten letters. I use a fountain pen, of which I have a large collection, as well as calligraphy pens of varying types. I absolutely love handwriting and calligraphy. Always have done. I made a calligraphy greeting for the Mayor of Lviv some years ago.
In answer to the OP, someone close to me has had lots of treatment for cancer recently, so I have been helping there. I would send a calligraphic letter of support, but that's just me, otherwise, a hand written letter of support. Definitely.
You will know her better than us. It depends what type of person she is. Many of the lovely suggestions above are a bit spiritual. If I received one I would know that thought had gone into but I'd much prefer a luxury shower gel or body lotion or something pampering and girly (can we still say girly?). Top of my list would be flowers though - but that's just me and the practicalities might make that difficult.
I would hope yhe office wouldn't give me her address!

true woke there! - and against the Data Protection regs
I sent a letter ( letters) to the dept / office and ask to re-address - er forward.
and yes some of them get ripped up.

First tripped this in 1978. wanted to send a book to a Dutch SHO who had completed a time in an NHS hospital BUT if you want to write to each other, you really should have exchanged addresses by then
I agree with prudie about some of the suggestions, I wouldn’t thank anyone for sending me a crystal or a worry stone even though they’d be sent for a kind place. Someone once gave me a ‘guardian angel’ brooch when I was due to have an op, it went in the bin.
Personally, I think you really can’t go wrong sending a card or letter with your heartfelt words written in it, the very fact that you’ve taken the time and made the effort will go a very long way and touch this lady. You can put it in its envelope, in another envelope addressed to work with a note in asking them to forward it on.
‘from a kind place’
I agree with Vagus. A card with an enclosed letter sent to her via her company. As Peter says, noone should ever disclose addresses or any personal info.
I don't like 'heartfelt letters' or tokens like crystals. Some flowers with a little card simply saying 'Thinking of you' would be my choice.
