Why do I have to keep telling AnswerBank NOT to remember me on this computer, when signing in? Should be the other way around by default, i.e. if I wanted to be remembered I'd ask for it. It's annoying, Ed, please. (I HAVE cleared my cache.)

I'm the Queen of Sweden :) And another thing, Spare and Ed, long replies are still cut off without any warning that they didn't go through.
I understand your annoyance, but I like it that way.
I like being able to click on AB in favourites and get straight there without singing in.
It's just personal preference,I don't know if AB Ed can do anything about it?

BTW.I remember you.
I remember you too swede :)

Mr V, I love the thought of you singing in to AB :D
Is it so hard to make one click of the mouse?

The old steam driven AB was more annoying, in that even if you logged out, it presented your username to anyone who looked at AB on the computer unless you deleted all your cookies every time.

I didn't want my family to know who my alter ego was.
Oh dear albaqwerty,
Too much speed over brain power typing words I think.
Or maybe new glasses are needed?
not glasses Mr V :)

Brain is quicker than the digits x
OOh albaqwerty,
That IS reassuring.
At least it means my brain IS still lively,it's just the signals to the fingers that are slow.LOL

Hello again. I agree with you. I would like the default set the other way round. That way no-one
will ever know who I am

Okay let's put it this way instead: WHICHEVER (sorry) choice I make, I don't see why I should have to make it over-and-over-and-over again.

I remember EVERYONE ;-)

Hello again scotman, I guess you've just about finished reading all my links and essays ;-)
I agree, that whatever the personal choice is (re signing in) it should stay that way until the ABer has changed it.
I leave this site logged in all the time. The whole family know my user name and password....must admit sometimes I do worry that they will post something stupid/rude as me.
Just clear your cache (Internet> Tools>Delete>...) after you've been on. Next time you go into AB you'll have to log in.
oops, sorrry, I see you had cleared your cache. Did you delete all the things (cookies, forms , history...). It should work.
Question Author
I cleared my cache and my saved form and search history and my browsing history but not my cookies - would cookies have made the difference, factor? I wouldn't have thought so, but I don't understand about computers so you or anyone else is more than welcome to educate me :)

The problem, though, isn't that I'm not asked to log in - I am. What bugs me is that every single time I log in I have to untick the box which by default is already ticked. That is to say: If I don't wish to be remembered, I have to untick it again and again. And again. And then some. Which does get a bit annoying in combination with the fact that I get thrown out over and over and over again, typically when I've been writing a reply and try to submit it. So the procedure is, I sign in and untick, write a reply, get thrown out, sign in and untick - and so on. (Getting thrown out is of course the bigger problem, but it's already been mentioned by so many others that I decided not to focus on it in this post.)

I didn't get thrown out this time!!
Yes, you have to clear your cookies Swedie! Not the chocolate chip ones either.

Seriously, clearing your cookies will work!!
Question Author
Of all the low-down tricks... Lottie... really... I know you want me to throw my cookies away but that was just plain base. Here I am now, cookie deprived - and I STILL have to untick... (...and yes I tried signing in and out and in again and out again and in again, after Lottie took my cookies ;-)
