I'm on another forum, nosying around, and there's a post saying the cat had brought home a dead rabbit 'as a gift', and well, they've only bunged the rabbit in the oven to cook for tea!!!

There's no way on God's green earth I could do that. Worse, the rabbit didn't have any signs of wounds or injuries, so can't determine exactly how it died.

Could you? Really?

I'm hurling at the very thought!

Rabbit in a restaurant -Yes, lovely. Rabbit which my cat dragged in as a present? Noooooooo... (If the rabbit got caught by the cat it didn't run fast enough, presumably due to ill health)

I don't like rabbit, so on that basis alone - no!

I wouldn't eat anything the cat took home, even if it was sirloin steak.

Was it a pet rabbit or a wild one? Just wondering if some poor sod is looking for their pet!
No! Or how long it's been dead for. It might be full of maggots!
Hope it hadn't been poisoned..........

Rabbit has been a staple meat for centuries.
No way, mainly because eurgh but also what if someone poisoned it.

Well they seemed to think it wasn't a pet, im assuming it was wild rabbit colour which is brownish right?
Just to add, I don't have a problem with eating rabbit.
Then I'd worry more about it being poisoned if it wasn't a pet.

I'm not squeamish about the eating rabbit bit, never tried it myself, but I wouldn't say no. It's the whole not knowing how or when it died that'd concern me.

Where do the rabbits in butchers come from. Are they 'farmed'?
And no...I'd never eat something the cat...or any other animal...had dragged in.
Woof, all the fleas and maggots would die in the heat of the oven!!!
Rabbit you get in the butchers are wild rabbits, shot and sold to game dealers.
That's fine, then horseshoes. Don't mind eating dead fleas and maggots:D
Omg, that has to be a wind up, did they gut it/skin it, it could have had mixie, omg, the mind boggles, I managed to rear 13 rabbit babies last year, couldnt say I could eat one though, x
