It's the slang, innit.
I haven't a clue other than it's cool to do da speak! Yes they do sound daft but not to themselves or their mates.
I hope the majority will look back and cringe...

We used to have our words...but not like they do now.

I wonder do some of these kids speak like that in front of their parents?
Groovy, man
yeah - right on
If you are referring to the 'youth' (read scum) being interviewed about their 'part' in the rioting, then no, they don't realise how thick they sound or are.
far out

Sherrardk......yes I was refering to him, his parents must be so proud
It's a speech habit - I keep saying OMG and have to force myself not to say it because I know I do. Wher ya to? instead of Where are you? is also a speech habit.
they don't care.

they ought to be termed "Innuits" - people frozen out by the icy stares and non-speech of their parents, relatives and anybody who has contact with them.

Starbuck.....'Wher ya to' makes absolutely no sense at all

This is Britain, not Jamaica
Or the David Beckham, "Yer know".........?
joeluke - I know it makes no sense, but they still say it on their mobile phones. I correct them every time but they just ignore me, laugh and say it again just to let me know I don't know everything.
'innit' isn't used around my part the country - Perth. :-)
Is that Perth, Australia?
I wish - more like the Perth where it has been so cold today that I toyed with the idea of putting the heating back on.
I met someone the other night, who kept saying "innit" and "is it" (in the same kind of weird accent.)
It got worse when I asked him his name... it was Magic. I literally had to keep aksing him to repeat every single thing he said. It was all rather frustrating. And hilarious.

'Innit' is now an official word in the game Scrabble!
