Driving home today I saw, as I entered my town, a large flock of starlings. I pulled over and the hundreds of starlings turned into thousands.....it was a murmuration!

I watched for twenty minutes as they formed stunning shapes above me. The noise was fantastic.

Then...dozens at a time ...they peeled off and plummeted into a row of conifers.

Not quite the Somerset Levels murmuration but as good as some I've seen in Brighton.....no more trains and hotels....I can cycle across town in ten minutes each evening to watch this...☺

I like watching birds too.

I know, Shoota....but it's the gun....☻
A truly magical experience!

It is indeed, Chip.....can't believe I saw one on my doorstep when I have traveled miles for the experience.

Don't know if it was a one off or a regular happening. There is nothing about it in my local bird updates but I'll go back tomorrow...with the camera!
I thought of you today Gness when I realised I'd put the dishwasher on with the tablet still in its wrapper.
Gness, check out your Aldi. Got a bird box with camera and microphone for £20 last Friday (reduced from £40). Boy #2 had it as part of his birthday presents, he lives it (not that it is up yet).
Educate me please, I don't know much about birds other than most people don't seem to like starlings. They appear to intimidate the sparrows, robins, finches etc. that we feed and we chase them away from the feeder. They live in our neighbours' roof space but it doesn't seem to bother them.

And what made you think of me, Zacs!....☺

Bums, Sherr! I saw that advertised and forgot all about it. Thanks for the reminder....I have two near me so a chance of getting one..I'd love it.
I am thinking of you, my love....Gx

Psyb...look closely...a starling is a beautiful bird...amazing colours.

They can seem a bit bossy but they're more like excitable children....and they chatter beautifully.....like an Irish knit and natter...☺

We'll be ok (we'll have to be!), but thanks, I do appreciate it, x (bird box is self assembly but can't be that hard to do).

My family have gone nature mental, girl has upgraded from 30l tropical fish tank to 70l (she paid but has managed to sell the original tank - she's only 8), boy #2 also has a 70l fish tank (rest of birthday present) and they can't go for a walk without their flora and fauna book (I think it's lovely).
I'll try but there's so many of them
Agree with you gness its a sight not to be forgotten. I remember a few years ago, my neighbour put some Bran Flakes on her bird table and guess whos'e fence the starlings were on when they worked!!!

They are poopy little devils, Giveup....☺

It is lovely, Sherr....I had one like that and she still is.....it's great to watch them develop an interest.

We had a large fish tank til big son was carrying the new carpet in. Hit a high shelf and knocked off a collection of old bottles. One went through the tank......amazing how far the water went and as for the fish flapping on the floor.....x
Talking of that, son's 13 inch fish tried to eat one of the smaller fish and dislocated its jaw, had to listen to son getting it back in place without being bitten. All are fine now, but with dogs, cats and fish, I'm dreading the inevitable.
Sherr, I'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome
I want an octopus, apparently they are quite evil. They will sneak out of their tank to another, eat the fish and go hime. If they don't like you or are in a mood, they will squirt you with water. I fancy having an adversary as a pet. (Psybbo, thank you, it does mean a lot, x)

Quizzing with the birders tonight...dying to tell them about the starling roost...just as excited as J was to tell me about it.....He had been two cars behind me and would have had a good view had the nut in the car two ahead of him not slammed on her brakes to watch it.....☻
That's advanced drivers for you - see everything there is to be seen......
Question Author
I know, Shoota...'tis a cross we have to bear........I'd ask how you are...but....☻
Not allowed any more G; how are you though?
Question Author
I am wonderfully well and happy thanks...would say more but....private conversation and all that.

Would love to know how your son is....happy in France or any thoughts on Canada....fantastic country....especially for the young and enthusiastic..x
