Hey there,
We got a six week old kitten yesterday and are just wondered if someone could give me some advice. We're just a little bit worried, she hasnt been to the toilet (for a wee or a poo) in the last 24 hours but she has eaten and drunk a little water. Is this normal?! Also, she's sleeping a LOT. She's awake for 15mins at a time and then curls up and sleeps for hours. We've had two cats before but cant remember whether this is normal for a kitten! Also, I dont think we had our other cats from so young. 6 weeks seems very young.

Any advice anyone could give us would be great.
Thanks a lot

six weeks is too young to be away from its mummy. do you know if it is weaned/toilet trained/wormed/deflead etc? if not, you need to take it to a vet for an overhaul! x
stonekicker is correct. The one 'benefit' of such a young kitten,is that it will very likely bond VERY well with you. I had one like that ,and he was totally ' inlove' with his humans.

We've got worming syrup for her and she's toilet trained. We've checked her for fleas and she's clear. We're not sure if she was weaned though.
We're going to take her to the vets. But should we be worried about her not going to the toilet and sleeping so much?!
no - they do tend to store it for hours and do the tiniest wees etc anyway. you could try getting kitchen towel and trying to stimulate toileting by rubbing their rear end in a motion similar to that of a mother cat licking and cleaning their young. kittens do kip for ages, but wake up at silly hours too. i am sure she will be stomping on your head at three in the morning before long. good luck x
We got our kitten at 5 weeks due to the fact that its mother abandoned it. Yes they do sleep loads, get used to it. ;-)
You may need to stimulate her to go to the toilet like stonekicker said. You also may need to feed her with a syringe ( the soft-ish ones you give young babys medicine with ). We put one of my jumpers over a hotwater bottle as a comfort tool you might want to try this . Good Luck
