stop worrying so much ,they know where thier food is
Hi, my kitten has been able to leave the house for a couple of weeks now [the back door is open at all times because of the dogs!] and she still hasn't gone further than the patio!!! Like the previous answer said, they now where they are best off!!!
Good luck

old wives tale i know, but i've always put butter on their paws for the first few times they go out & this helps them, i have a travelling friend who takes her cats everywhere in the caravan & she's never lost any of them through doing this, i haven't either so its worth trying, good luck. :-)
As long as you kept them in for four weeks, you should have no problem.
I have never kept a new cat in and they have always gradually gone a bit further away from home and always found their way back. Don't see why four weeks should make a difference - the outside of the house will still be the same as the first day they arrive.
Only let them out when they are hungry to start with. They will soon come home. Don't let them out straight away after they have eaten as they will almost certainly go to sleep on a full stomach and then let them out again just before its food time again. If you can get them to associate coming home with food you will have few problems. Try also to keep to a routine of feeding times and the cats will soon get the message.

Also cats used to using a litter tray will nearly always come home to do their "business".
