Does anyone know why vets recommend Hills cat food , as it is very expensive? Is it because you can only get it from them? Are there any good cheaper alternatives out ther for our 3month old kittens?

Its a ploy to get you to buy it, vets are only promoting it to you to make money, they get commission from the amount they sell - naturally, i wouldnt buy Hills stuff personally, there are plenty of excellent brands out there - my kittens always go for Felix and love it, but try Iams too - that is excellent and less pricey than the Hills stuff. Vets charge enough for the treatment of your pets without shoving other unecessary stuff on top of the bill !

please keep in mind that even with the REALLY Exspensive vet food you are only paying about $ 1.25 a day to feed your cats. Probably less. I can feed my two great danes on REALLY exspensive vet food gor $4.38 a day. My vet has a program that breaks all costs down per day. So it isn't really all that exspensive for high quality garenteed food.
