Yes, but most farmers have them removed for safety reasons. By all accounts the procedure looks and smells horrendous, but is actually as painless as the ladies having their feet trimmed.

All cows are female.



Ethel, I seem to remember one on an advert a while ago that wasn't. Think it might have been for Boddingtons or some other beer, but there it sat, udders all over the place, but distinctly male.

That depends on the breed. Some cattle breeds are 'polled' - that is, they don't grow horns, and some breeds do grow horns.


The ones that have horns are usually dehorned for safety reasons (safety to the farmer and to other animals) and as SaxyJag says, this procedure is painless if performed correctly.


SaxyJag, there have been a series of adverts recently for Dairylea involving very male cows... have you seen those ones?
