Any dog being bought for the military if a Hammer cost $500, dog's have gotta be almost priceless. LOL

Seriously, it depends on the Pedigree and if it's rare, but beware some say they have a rare "something" and it's really not.

I know someone paid 1200 for a malti-poo, that is a MUTT, mongrel, but they paid 800 for the dog and 400 to get it shipped to her...LOL

They're selling the labradoodle's and doodle's and all them other designer ''oodles'' for around 1k varying where you are and they are basically Mongrels!!!
Aren't Afghan hounds the most expensive? Don't see many about....

i was thinking perhaps of komandors

Mine are the most expensive - in fact they're priceless!

In the US they sell what they call 'teacup chihuahuas' which are in fact just very tiny chi's but they sell them to film stars and celebs for anything up to 15,000 dollars.

In this country Bulldogs fetch about 1500 - 3000 because they are very difficult to breed. Pugs are also quite expensive often 1000 upwards.

Afghans are not that expensive - just not the sort of dog you see down the local park. There were loads entered at Crufts.

Dogue De Bordeaux were quite expensive a while back but they are being over bred by people who want to make a fast buck, so now they have got cheaper!

Komondors are actually not expensive as they are so rare in this country and are usually booked before they are born by people already in the breed, fortunately as they need such an incredible amount of coat care.

Also it is not true that 'Crufts winners' are worth a fortune - most people would not sell them anyway!

Same as greyhounds, only the really top class racers make a lot of money and they are few and far between.

Crossbreeds are now being sold as 'designer dogs' and mugs are paying hundreds for them - just because they have got a fancy made-up name. They are just mongrels after all. (Nowt wrong with a mongrel but why pay a fortune when there are thousands looking for homes?

Lankeela where did you get that price for a tea cup chi?

I know a teacup malti-poo for around $2500.00 that includes shipping.

The dog is only sold for what the buyer will pay, if people want to pay 2500 for a mix breed dog, they have too much money to burn.... IMHO.

There are many variants on a price.

For example I had a judge value my dog for showing purposes and he said people would pay around 2k for her as a puppy that has never been shown, just for her potential.

However if you got a pup of the breed that didn't confirm to the standard then that wouldn't cost as much even though it is same breed.

Then there is health, a healthy pup with a good healthy pedigree is worth more then a pup with a pedigree full of problems.

Someone I spoke to was offered 15,000 for one of the finalists in crufts about 2-3yrs ago, but they didn't take it, but others in that breed will go for less then 1,000.

So unfortunatley you'll never find a definate answer to this question.
