Been looking at memory foam beds for my dogs. One of my terriers has bad joints and stiffness due to hip displaysia when he was young, (corrective surgery was performed) and he had an accident when he was young causing damage to his other back leg so overall he has found most of the dog beds I have bought quite uncomfortable and overtime, lumpy.

In fact he sleeps on our memory foam leather sofa practically all the time as he seems to find this more comfortable. (I know I shouldn't but I know he prefers it)

Anyway, these type of beds are massively expensive (£100+) and as I have two terriers I need a large size. (They sleep together). So, instead I bought a single bed memory foam mattress topper 2" thick, (£29.50) folded it in half, now 4" thick and then bought a dog bed cover to pop over it, (£14.99. A nice one with fluffyness on one side and cordroy (sp) on the other).

Bob's your Uncle, a lovely Memory foam dog bed for a lot less money.

And to top it all. He loves it! He hasn't pestered me to come up on the sofa since I bought it so he must be comfortable in it. I am so happy and relieved.

clever you that sounds great, hope your dogs are well pleased with you
What a good idea. Might do that myself. Thanks
For my dog that is, not for myself. I do have a memory foam topper though on our bed and the spare bed.

They certainly are alexanderd. It's so nice seeing them use it and to look comfortable as well.

Loftylottie- I have wondered about the toppers for me but do not know anyone that has one to ask how good they are. Do they make a difference?
Yes, the do icemaiden. We bought a very expensive ordinary mattress but it was too firm for me. I would have liked a memory foam mattress, but Mr LL doesn't like them, so we compromised and got a topper and it is lovely. I also bought a topper for the spare bed because that was quite a firm mattress and it has made it so comfortable. Also keeps you much warmer.
What an excellent idea, many thanks.

annadomino-Dog beds are so expensive. Some of the memory foam beds were in excess of £200! And also I found out whilst searching that a lot of them use shredded memory foam and not solid memory foam. I wouldn't have thought that would be as beneficial.

Thanks Lofty, may have to consider one for me then.
Ice...........your as daft with your dogs as me!! great idea though!

I have a 2" topper for my bed and its really comfortable and warm. The dogs love it!

Memory foam topper shopping tomorrow it is.

Try saying that when your drunk!
We have just had a new bed and the mattress is so deep I didnt know what to do with the memory foam topper from old bed, and did consider cutting it up for the dogs, but have stuck it on the spare bed for now. I have one of the 'real things' that was given to me as a promotion if I took a photo of one of my dogs lying on it. I know it was well over £200 for the size.
it makes a change that they lie on the special thing you bought them - ours wouldn't i bet! PS dogs on the sofa (in my mind) is perfectly fine :) (i;m only saying that cause as i type i look over and see all 3 on ours)
